The Most Affordable Job Posting Site On The Web

Posted by Nick

After MUCH thinking about how to increase my site revenues, I created this affordable job board for employers who are looking for an “affordable” outlet to advertise their job openings. When looking to advertise their job openings, employers have a serious dilemma. They can either overpay and post their jobs on Monster or Careerbuilder, which charge as much as $395 for a single job posting for 60 days, or post their jobs for free on Craigslist. The problem with Craigslist is that you will get deluged by companies offering their services as well as the flaming post that pop up by people who are frustrated with the pay that employers offer.

In comes, the job board at Workplace Management Strategies. Post a job on Workplace Management Strategies new job board today. It only costs $5 for a 30 day job posting. The site currently attracts up to 10,000 visitors per month, and is widely read across the United States, as well as countries abroad (to my surprise when looking at my Google Analytics).

You’ll notice a link to the right, just below my sponsors, via the new sidebar column. It encompasses the job postings by employers who choose to post their jobs on Workplace Management Strategies.

Playing Video Games At Work

Posted by Nick

Coffee breaks and watercooler chitchat are out when it comes to office stress relief. Now, playing video games at work are all the rage.

Almost a quarter of white-collar workers play video games at work, and 84 percent say they feel more relaxed after indulging, according to a recently released survey.

Some workers even admitted to playing video games during business meetings or conference calls, but most played during breaks or intermittently throughout the day, according to the nonscientific survey by video game provider PopCap Games. Garth Chouteau, PopCap Games Spokesman says “it is akin to doodling.”  Remarkably, “you really don’t use all of the mental bandwidth you have when you’re playing video games at work.”

More than a third of higher-level executives admitted to playing video games at work, compared to 23 percent of other white-collar workers.

Web Based Training vs. Classroom Training

Posted by Nick

We all know that web-based education and training delivery is on the rise. Some believe that we should shift all training onto an e-learning platform to save many types of costs.

I realize the issue is very complicated, but I’d like to ask for your feedback with the following question.

Question: What types of organizational education and training requirements do you feel can be shifted over to an all web-based learning platform, and (2), what kinds of organizational education and training requirements must only be delivered in the classroom?

Procedual knowledge (e.g. learning applications) should be held in face-to-face classrooms; while as conceptual knowledge could be move in a pure online environment. Do you mean to say that all “cognitive” learning can be shifted over to e-learning platforms, but “psychomotor” skills training should always be accomplished face-to-face? What about “affective” skills training? Can we trust that this training requirement be accomplished only on-line?

I’m not the expert in this particular subject matter content, but maybe a mixed format that maximizes the advantages of a web-based format.

Cognitive learning and privacy are obvious advantages of web-based education so maybe a “homework” assignment followed by a face-to-face interactive discussion. One example is a psychological bias test that people can complete on-line (I think Harvard has a project going on using this kind of instrument) anyway, people can examine their biases in private and debrief with an instructor.

Of September 11th, Business, and Team Building…

Posted by Nick

By Dan Goldberg, MBA

It’s September 10th and there I am again, driving North on the New Jersey Turnpike towards Kenilworth (this time). This is the first day of eight over the next three weeks at a company in this town off exit 11 and up the Garden State Parkway, interspersed with a couple days in Maryland, two in Connecticut and one in Manhattan. Three weeks of constantly being on the go, being busy conducting seminars and consulting.

Team Building is the topic for this day, with four more to follow. How to build effective and efficient teams, communicate better, know your and your team members strengths and weaknesses, delegate, motivate and of course have some fun along the way.
