HotGigs, Pay-Per-View Job Postings a New Trend in Job Search

I read a post titled Using LinkedIn to job hunt on Secrets of the Job Hunt. It briefly introduced how you can use LinkedIn for your job search instead of the traditional job boards.

After searching for writer jobs in the Fort Lauderdale area, I came upon a job titled Web Content Writer Editor.

When I clicked on this ad, I was met with the sign up page for HotGigs. It stated that only paid members are allowed to view this ad.

A few days ago I mentioned in TheLadders.com: What’s Wrong With This Job Posting how TheLadders was doing a similar tactic to increase their subscriber base. Why must a job seeker have to pay up front in order to submit a resume and apply for a job? The traditional job boards, such as Monster and CareerBuilder, offer paid services to the members, such as the resume blast service that CareerBuilder offers. However, it is free for anyone to join and post their resume. You can even submit your resume to a job posting without even registering.

With what we saw with TheLadders and now with HotGigs, is pay-per-view job postings becoming a disturbing new trend in job search?
